Lights, camera and action.. A late night shooting was going on in the famous Mehboob studios of Mumbai. The crew of a movie was talking to the actress sitting on a chair, possibly waiting for someone. As the crowd moves away, we find out it's the superstar Anushka Sharma's new movie shooting. She stood up, walked around a bit, looking as beautiful as ever even in a normal blue top and black jeans. "You know when he is arriving" She asked one of the crew members who replies he's on the way and should be here soon.
And here he was, the king of Bollywood Shahrukh khan arriving at the spot and greeting everyone. He goes towards Anushka who with all of her 5'9" frame plus huge heels made him look like a midget in front of her. She asked why you got so late to which he replied "my back got hurt a day before yesterday performing a stunt scene so had a little trouble getting up and coming in here but as you can see i am all ready to go" while giving a smug look. The director asks them to get ready we're gonna shoot a short scene and then the film's poster before the pack up as it's already been late. SRK and Anushka shot the scene and were appreciated by the small crew which was still around.
"OK, well done" Said the director, " Now for our film poster Shahrukh you have to lift anushka up in a cradle." Shahrukh was a little worried because of his back injury and says I'll try but I'm not sure if I can do it right now. He tries to pick Anu up but his back wasn't supporting him, Anushka giggled a bit and said I think you need some rest for today. "Yeah I think so too " And he gets back in his vanity van. The director says well we can't shoot the poster now tonight to which Anushka replies " wait , I might have an idea, let me talk to Shah about it" and she follows him to his van.
Anushka came inside and said I think we can still shoot the poster. SRK asks how I can't lift you right now. She says what if I lift you up ?? It isn't necessary that a hero should be lifting his heroine all the time. Shahrukh was stunned hearing this, "What are you saying??" He says "will people like to see a hero lifted by his heroine? Besides I don't think you can do it either". Anushka says oh yes I can, I have lifted weights much more than you in my workout… besides I think it has become normal even in movies for a girl to lift boys, you're the king of romance and my favorite actor don't be so patriarchal to think girls can't do what boys can.
Shahrukh was in two minds on what to reply as Anushka uttered ok come and sit on my lap and I'll lift you up in my arms just as the poster demands. He was kind of reluctant but agreed to his leading lady's demands and sat on her lap. Anushka puts one of her hands on his back and one under his knees and says Ok be ready now as she stood up holding the king of romance himself in her arms like a child. "See I told you it isn't hard for me haha" Anushka said with a big smile on her face.
Shahrukh was shocked as a slim and much younger woman was carrying him in a cradle like he weighs nothing. He says "Wow Anu, never knew you were so strong". " Yeah, but now you know… are you gonna tell the director to shoot our poster now? " She replies in a striking voice. "Well I can only go if you put me down first" SRK responded as she laughs and puts him down.
Shahrukh met the director who was about to order pack up and said I think we have found a way to shoot our poster tonight. Director says okay.. If you both are ready we can do it today, it won't take much time anyway. Anushka came outside and director asked her so how is he gonna pick you up. She replies he won't be picking me up , I'll pick him up instead. The director was shocked and looked at Shahrukh who nodded his head in a yes.
"You think it will work?? What poster has a heroine lifting a hero? " He asked peculiarly. "Ohhh of course it will work, I was just telling Shah that " she utters " What's so strange in a leading lady lifting her opposite number?? Men and their patriarchal mindset are so off putting." The director finally agrees with her and brings the cameraman and rest of the crew in position.
"So are we ready? " asks the director. Yes replies Anushka. She asks Shahrukh to stand on a stool and she'll take over from there and he obliges. Anushka balances her co-star's body in her hands then manages to sweep him off his feet in her arms. All the crew members including the director's mouths were wide open seeing Anushka carrying Shahrukh with utmost ease. The camera crew clicks as many pictures as they can while both of the stars give their pose and smile for the camera. Ok one last shot the director says as Anushka spins Shahrukh who is still in her arms and they shot the clip.
Alright can you give me a piggyback pose Anushka, he asks. Anushka replies sure why not. Shahrukh says this wasn't in original plan to which director replies " yea but I have just added it, I think the poster we shit right now will be much more popular than the one we had in mind so why not give the audience something extra". Anushka says she likes this idea and asks Shahrukh to jump on her back. SRK was a little reluctant but he had no other option as he jumped on the tall back of the leggy lass and they gave a piggyback pose for another poster.
Alright we got two very good and marketable posters, the director shouts in happiness.. I think this was one of the best shoots of my career, thank you to both of you and it's a pack up..
Anushka and Shahrukh get ready to leave the studio as Anushka says "Do you mind if I drop you home today? I've got so much to talk to , besides you're not feeling well and your driver isn't here so it's ethical of me." SRK was not in a position to refuse her after everything that went down that night and agreed. They both sat in the car with Anushka on the driver's seat. She starts driving at a rapid speed and gets him home in a short time. " It was a memorable night for me you know, as a child I always dream of having a lifting scene with the king of romance but better I knew when It will happen I'll be the one doing the lifts haha!! Take care of yourself Shah , we got more shooting to do" She says with a wink . Shahrukh was relieved that night was finally over and thanked Anushka while getting out of the car.
